Travel to EBONY SPRINGS plantation 2.5-3h transfer. Two night stay:

Ebony Springs is a small homestay centred around 5 acres of beautifully kept tea and a small tea factory with an output of between 40-100k tea per month. Bernard Holsinger is a Sri Lankan Burgher and a highly experienced planter and tea maker. Bernard specialises is finely crafted and hand-made teas using small scale equipment. His bronze tea plants are used for creating hand-tied teas, bronze tips and stem tea. Bernard's wife Pauline is a fantastic cook and both are wonderful hosts.

Expect to learn a lot about tea planting, tea maintenance and tea making from one of Sri Lankans few tea craftsmen.

Travel to Talawakalle Tea Research Institute - 4 hour tea learning and training programme.

Travel on to Nuwara Eliya - 2.5-3 h travel time - Two night stay.
Senani is an old colonial bungalow that has been recently renovated to a high standard. Expect old world charm.

Excursion to Pedro Tea factory which is one of the best known factories in the Nuwara Eliya area and makes good quality tea on a large scale.

Travel by train to Bandarawela:
Experience the hustle and bustle of Sri Lankan train travel. We won't be going first class with the other tourists, we will be travelling with the locals which will be a much more enjoyable and interesting experience. Travel time 2-3h

Travel from Bandarawela to Wewethenna close to Amba Estate and to Morning Mist Guest House. Two night stay.

Expect fabulous views and some of the best local food in Sri Lanka. Pat the host is a friend of mine and a culinary legend, she is French Italian but married to a Sri Lankan. Pat ran Sri Lankan cookery courses in Paris and offers lessons at her guest house. Do not expect to lose any weight on this trip!

Morning Mist is next door to Amba Tea Estate which is where I lived and worked for 4 years renovating the bungalow, building the tea factory and developing their hand-made teas. You will spend the best part of a day visiting the factory and tasting their teas.

If there's time there are also some wonderful walks and waterfall pools to swim in.
